How are the yoga classes offered at DNA Doc different from general yoga classes?

The medical therapeutic yoga classes are instructed by highly educated, licensed Physical Therapists with additional teacher training in medical therapeutic yoga from the Living Well Institute.

With Physical Therapists' expertise in reducing pain and improving mobility given a variety of health conditions, in adjunct to extensive training in medical therapeutic yoga with over 900 hours for completion of the certification, they are able to modify yoga postures and prescribe sequences based on the therapeutic content given your current condition to ensure yoga is being performed in a safe manner and with respect to your body allowing maximum benefits.

Are all yoga classes taught online?

Yes, at this time, all yoga classes are being taught virtually.

What equipment will I need at home for the yoga classes?

You will need a laptop, iPad, or smartphone to attend the class. A yoga mat would also be helpful, along with a thick blanket, and a chair close by.

For modifications, yoga blocks and a strap would be helpful.

What is Integrative Physical Therapy?

Integrative Physical Therapy still has the foundation of evidenced-based traditional Physical Therapy services but also includes a holistic mind-body approach as well as blended complementary alternative interventions as well.

For example, we utilize essential oils during our manual therapy services both for aromatherapy benefits as well as the therapeutic impact for your musculoskeletal system.

How are your Physical Therapy services different than the rest?

For starters, we believe in slow medicine. You will get a full one-on-one session with your therapist so that you can have her undivided attention.

This will facilitate quicker results in fewer visits. This reduces the risk of healthcare provider burnout and enhances the results our patients achieve.

We will also blend a full-body approach with education being provided on how to reduce inflammation throughout the body.

Why is the breath such an integral part of your philosophy of care?

First of all, the diaphragm makes up our core. Even though the diaphragm is constantly moving, it is a critical part of stabilizing the core, lumbar spine, as well as the rib cage. Secondly, it is our access into our autonomic nervous system.

When we are stressed (which its hard not to feel stress when you are in pain, sick, or dealing with other health issues), we activate our “fight and flight” sympathetic nervous system, which will drive blood flow away from the gut, where 70% of our immune system is housed, activates our inflammatory cascades, increases risk of insulin resistance, and much more.

Through our breath and meditation, we are able to activate the Vagus Nerve and cause upregulation of our Parasympathetic Nervous system (rest, relaxation, digestion, and absorption). We include the breath in all of our services because it is such a powerful, cost-effective intervention!

We feel so strongly about the power of the breath that we offer free guided meditations with our highly trained Professional Yoga Therapist (who serve as mindset mentors in our Functional Medicine Program).

Which services can I use my insurance for?

We will bill your insurance on your behalf for our in-house Physical Therapy services. We are in-network with Anthem BCBS, Humana, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Medicare.

For all other policies, you would need to pay in advance for your session, we will still submit to your insurance carrier as out of network and the insurance company would reimburse you any out of network payments.

Do you accept insurance for any of your Functional Medicine services?

No, The DNA Doc is a results driven functional medicine coaching program focused on health and wellness. Since we go upstream to any diagnoses, we are unable to code your problems using our traditional medical models ICD-10 codes. Our traditional model is currently only designed for symptom management rather than wellness and prevention. In addition, we spend a great deal of time supporting our clients in our program and are able to do this without and keep our cost as low as possible by not having to constantly fight insurance companies for reimbursement. We do accept care credits 6 month and 12 month payment plans for our Functional Medicine services. Interested in learning more about this payment option, you can visit carecredit.com.

How long does The DNA Doc Functional Medicine Program last?

It depends!  Again, we keep our focus on your results, not time. Healing is very individualized and greatly depends on what you are struggling with.

Every single person’s program is personalized to meet their needs. This is why we do FREE 15-minute phone consultations to make sure you are the right fit and we can serve you at the highest level.

How much does The DNA Doc Functional Medicine Program cost?

This greatly depends on your needs. The cost is based on what labs are needed to see a clear picture of your underlying root cause, how many visits are needed, the estimated length of time it will take to get the results you are looking for.

But from a ballpark perspective, your program could cost anywhere from $4k-$6.5K. The price of your program will include everything with the exception of supplements and purchasing your food (which shouldn’t influence your monthly budget).

How much do monthly supplements in the program cost?

Supplement costs vary greatly based on the issues you are dealing with and the chronicity of your situation. However, we always try to lead with a food-first approach as much as possible. Supplements are certainly an important piece of healing; however, they are not the only interventions we integrate into our program.

We work with all budgets in our program. We will always make recommendations based on what we feel will get you the best results in the least amount of time.

But we also understand, some monthly budgets are tighter than others. So, we will prioritize your supplement needs when necessary to meet your budget and depend on food for the rest!

The good news is, you will receive a significant discount on professional-grade supplements while in our program.
